How to Submit Your Manuscript to Edit 1st
Please DO NOT send your manuscripts to us until you have been instructed to do so by an Edit 1st editor. Each editor will let you know where to send it; these are the guidelines to follow at that time. Complete our short form to get started.
Electronic Manuscripts
- Email the manuscript as an MS Word attachment
- The manuscript must not contain extraneous formatting or hard returns
- Dialogue must contain dialogue breaks
- For a Manuscript Review you may send a non-editable PDF file
Hard Copy Manuscripts
- Send a copy–not an original–via USPS Priority Mail with delivery confirmation
- Manuscripts must be printed on standard white 8 ½” x 11″ paper
- Double-spaced for clients requesting editorial letters
- Triple-spaced for clients requesting line editing
- Font: Times New Roman, 12 point
- Include a cover page with a brief synopsis of the manuscript and what you want to do with it.
- Include an About the Author/Bio and marketing information
- Include title page with author name and title
- Include table of contents
- Manuscript must be paginated (numbered) starting from page 1 to the end
- Begin each chapter on a new page
- Line-edited manuscripts will be returned via USPS Priority Mail with delivery confirmation
